Gaming: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, At a Glance

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward's reboot of the Modern Warfare series, is inching closer to its release on October 25, 2019. Meaning, there isn’t a lot of time left to decide whether you need to buy it or wait for the next big release unless you don’t want the pre-order bonuses.

With the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release date drawing near almost everything you need to know to make your decision is already out in the open, which is why we're here to help make it easier to decide.

Fast-Paced Gameplay & Gunsmithing

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reboot can genuinely be called a return to form for the franchise that's felt stagnant for many years now. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare gameplay offers just the right balance of speed, and tactical elements which coupled with the new weapon customization option "Gunsmithing," will keep you hooked for hours. With Gunsmithing, you can apply five upgrades to each gun and customize them just the way you like.

Abundance Of Game Modes

Every story campaign in the Modern Warfare Franchise has been, for the most part, well-received by fans and is packed with memorable moments that make the single-player alone worth buying.

Besides a robust single-player campaign, a leaked list of Modern Warfare Multiplayer Modes shows that it just might have around 40 or more game modes for you to jump experience. It also mentions a Battle Royale, which means the online multiplayer will have something for everyone to enjoy. There's also a new 2v2 mode called Gunfight that plays in smaller maps and is incredibly fun to play with friends.

Exclusive Game Modes

While there are a wide variety of multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the Spec Ops Survival mode won't come to PC for a year. In a surprise announcement, it was revealed that the game mode would be a PS4 Exclusive for at least a year.

Considering Call of Duty games are yearly releases, it means players that pay full price for the game won’t have access to it until the next Call of Duty game is close to release, unlike PS4 players.

Microtransactions & Season Pass

In somewhat surprising yet refreshing news, the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare won't have a season pass. Activision plans on releasing multiple new maps and launch events without having to buy into a new season pass, which means that the game could have a slightly longer lifespan than the previous entries in the game.

On the other hand, with the release so close, it's still unclear just precisely how Activision will monetize the loot boxes. If Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 microtransactions are anything to go by; Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch with Cosmetics being the only items in loot boxes but may also get the addition of actual new weapons or perks.

Overall, the game seems like a proper spiritual successor to the original Modern Warfare trilogy. If you can overlook the possibility of pay-to-win loot boxes as a down-the-line addition and game mode exclusivity on PC, then you’re in for a good time.
