Research has shown that eating junk foods such as fast foods and sugar, can lead to an increased risk of obesity and chronic diseases like diabetes and cancer. To age beautifully, balance your diet to include fruits, vegetables, and whole grains instead of snacks and sugars.

#2: Protect Yourself from Excessive Sun Exposure

The number one culprit responsible for wrinkled and faded skin is the sun. UV rays emitted from the sun are absorbed directly into the skin, causing it to age prematurely. You should apply broad-spectrum sunscreen onto the skin every day to protect your skin from harmful rays of the sun. Also, try to practice sun avoidance and protection by keeping shaded and avoiding the sun when it is brightest; a lovely sun hat is always an excellent choice.

#3: Exercise

It does not have to be rigorous cardio or grueling squats and lunges. Light jogging, or even a brisk walk, three days a week, goes a long way to staying fit. Machines have to be lubricated regularly to prevent friction of grinding surfaces. The same goes with joints in the human body; they need to be exercised and routinely worked to keep them in top shape. Yoga is an excellent choice to avoid achy backs and painful joints. Yoga is low impact and is great for stretching those muscles and limbering up those stiff joints.

#4: Sleep

Research shows that one of the most common detriments to our brain is sleep deprivation. A healthy adult needs between 7-9 hours of sleep for our brain to function at maximum capacity. As a woman, if you want to age like a Queen, you need your beauty sleep. The body is at rest while sleeping, and during this time, cells are repaired and replaced. The refreshed feeling you get when you wake up after a good nights rest? That is your body taking care of itself.

#5: Alcohol

Alcohol has been shown to have some positive effects on the human body, at least in moderation. However, overindulgence has been shown to cause premature aging and breakdown of cells in the body and our brain. With time, collagen and elastin that keep our skin tight and firm are broken down, and consumption of alcohol speeds up this process.
